Amex Commission Fees to Rise Oct. 1
American Banker (09/19/00) Vol. 104, No. 37 p.9; Toonkel, Jessica

The brokerage division for American Express (Amex) plans to raise most of its commission fees in October. The hike is expected to go into effect Oct. 1. According to the company, customers who have $100,000 or more will no longer be able to make free online equity trades but will receive 10 free trades a month. The same goes for Amex customers with $25,000 to $99,000 in their accounts. They will receive only three free online stock buys a month.
