FASB Chair Blasts Proposed House Legislation

Legislation introduced in the House last week that would postpone the Financial Accounting Standards Board's (FASB) proposed four-year project to improve the transparency of accounting and reporting for business combinations was lambasted by FASB Chairman Edmund L. Jenkins. Jenkins said the legislation, H.B. 5365, would meddle with the FASB's capacity to do its job, and "would have a serious and negative impact upon consumers of financial information."
