Banks Try to Turn the Tables

As many investment banks fight for changes to the Thomson Financial Securities Data rankings to recognize the role of banks working as corporate broking advisors, rival banks are claiming Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley Dean Witter have been attempting to keep Thomson from changing the method of computing the rankings. Reportedly, senior staff at several investment banks got together last week with Thomson in an attempt to iron out their differences over the matter, but there was no compromise reached.
