Former Ernst & Young partner Jackson Day will be the Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) new deputy chief accountant. On Monday, the SEC announced the hiring of Day, who will oversee accounting and auditing practices for the regulatory agency. SEC Chief Accountant Lynn Turner said Day's background in financial instruments, revenue recognition, and securitization, among other areas, will greatly benefit the regulatory agency. Day will join the SEC at a time when it is facing stiff opposition from Arthur Andersen, Deloitte & Touche, and KPMG regarding its plan to separate consulting and auditing businesses.
