While opportunities for early retirement have become more widespread, retiring younger has always posed a number of adjustment challenges, writes the Wall Street Journal's Shelley Lee. Many young retirees' view of retirement is based on the assumption that any activities outside of the workplace, like golf, for example, will be more fulfilling. Many retirees, however, find that the absence of work and too much leisure time can be unfulfilling. "There was too much missing--including a sense of me," said Terry Culp, who at 52 sold the last of his five manufacturing businesses in upstate New York.
