Women and Retirement Survey

According to a recent survey by Pension Benefits magazine, women are concerned about retirement planning but could stand to be more prepared. Overall, 80 percent of survey respondents, including 78 percent of women and 81 percent of men, reported having investments. Seventy percent of the women surveyed said they had a number of concerns surrounding retirement planning. Their greatest worry--41 percent of respondents--was that they did not have enough money to maintain their current lifestyle. Including 401(k) or other pension plans, individual retirement accounts, and personal savings, women ages 40-49 said that they intend to save $364,000 for retirement. Those respondents ages 18-29 said that they intend to save $323,000 for retirement.
