Talk Now, Retire Happily Later
Business Week (04/02/01) No. 3726 p.92; Gutner, Toddi

A new book by David Bach, senior vice president and investment adviser at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, seeks to help husbands and wives overcome divergent financial goals. Often, couples on the verge of retirement have different ideas of how they would like to spend their "Golden Years." In his book, "Smart Couples Finish Rich," Bach tells couples how to set and achieve homogeneous financial goals without conflict. Bach recommends that couples initiate the plan process by writing out and prioritizing five values that are most important to them. As soon as these values are recorded, Bach says, couples should begin to act on each goal within 48 hours. Finally, Bach says couples should discuss their goals with others to see if they can receive further help on their goals.
