Credit Scores Are Due to Go Public

Personal credit scores are soon going to be a normal component of everyone's financial profile. Fair Isaac, the firm that computes the FICO score, is planning to release individual scores this year for the first time ever. The score, based on a person's credit history, determines the outcome of almost all loan decisions--including the rate a person will have to pay. The California State Senate approved a bill last May requiring the release of the score by credit bureaus.
