Credit Scores Are Due to Go Public Money (08/00) Vol. 29, No. 8 p.126; Bennett, Andrea
Personal credit scores are soon going to be a normal
component of everyone's financial profile. Fair Isaac, the firm
that computes the FICO score, is planning to release individual
scores this year for the first time ever. The score, based on a
person's credit history, determines the outcome of almost all
loan decisions--including the rate a person will have to pay.
The California State Senate approved a bill last May requiring
the release of the score by credit bureaus.
