Senate Panel Members Want Review of 401(k) Plan

Senate lawmakers have asked the General Accounting Office to review an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) survey that found a high rate of non-compliance among 401(k) plans. The survey found that 44 percent of 472 plans reviewed had never observed proper guidelines. The request was submitted by members of the Senate Finance Committee, some of whom have expressed interest in examining the compliance methods the IRS used in its research.
