Politicians Debate Social Security

Although Congress plans to address Social Security very little this year, political debate is heating up as the election year approaches. The system could be changed to allow younger workers to invest a small portion of their taxes into private investment accounts, but Democrats are concerned that those investments would be lost in the volatile stock market. Democrats hope to retain the system as is but reduce President Bush's $1.35 trillion tax cut to extend the financial stability of the program.
