Don't Reform 401(k) Accounts Out of Existence

Calls for reform of retirement pension funds are justified, but lawmakers should not use their emotions to drive the change, but rather they should proceed thoughtfully, writes R. Glenn Hubbard in a commentary for the Wall Street Journal. While there is room for improvement, Hubbard says President Bush and other lawmakers cannot afford to move too quickly or be too emotional in making the changes, otherwise they will "risk overcompensating and curtailing a trend that has been both a boon for workers and a driving force in our recent period of economic prosperity."
