Bush to Push Social Security Reforms

President Bush says he plans to push for discussion of his Social Security plan in the next few months, despite fears that debate on the issue could mean the loss of Republican congressional seats in the fall elections. Bush's plan would give individuals the choice to create personal retirement investment accounts, which could be inherited by heirs after death and are intended to create larger benefits for retirees in the future by diversifying their investments. Critics say Bush's proposal would cut Social Security benefits for retirees.
